Development on Belward Farm
Planning board voted to allow Johns Hopkins to build 4.6 million sq ft of space with 143 ft buildings on Belward Farm. This may result in about 11,000 people on the farm. The Board still has to make decisions on the other Life Sciences Center areas. The Public Services Training Academy, the fire tower area, could have 2,000 multi-family housing units, an elementary school, a fire station, and retail. LSC Central could have another 2,225 multi-family housing units, retail and 5.5 million sq ft of commercial space. The property owners from LSC North, Danac, BNA and Finra, have asked for higher density and housing on that area. The Rickman property on Travilah will be developed. The County Council will make the final determination in the fall.
